Description
The Polar CT393-A is a double-door refrigerated saladette counter that holds 2 × 1/1 GN pans of prepped ingredients at the top and 205 litres of chilled storage below, built for sandwich bars, pizzerias, cafés and any kitchen running an assembly line. Fan-assisted cooling keeps the cabinet between −2 °C and 8 °C through service, a full-size glass sneeze guard makes it safe to work in front of customers, and a removable PE chopping board lets staff cut and plate without leaving the station. It is part of Polar's U-Series, mounted on castors in a 1360 mm stainless steel body.
Why operators choose it
-
2 × 1/1 GN top with full-size sneeze guard — keeps the most-used ingredients within reach and compliant in customer-facing areas
-
205 L usable base capacity across two doors — back-up stock stays at the station instead of in a walk-in across the kitchen
-
Removable PE chopping board — prep and serve from one spot, then lift the board out to wash it properly
-
Fan-assisted cooling to −2 °C — recovers temperature through repeated lid lifts in a busy service
-
50 mm insulation — holds temperature with less compressor run time, cutting running cost
-
One adjustable shelf per door — reset the base around tray heights or bulk containers
-
Automatic defrost — no manual defrost cycle to schedule mid-week
-
Mounted on castors — rolls out for cleaning behind and underneath without lifting

Which venues it suits
The GN top and sneeze guard make the CT393-A a natural fit for sandwich and salad bars, pizzerias and café counters where assembly happens in front of the customer — the guard keeps the line compliant without a separate screen. The 205 L base suits venues that want a day's back-up stock at the station rather than walking to a cool room. It is the wrong choice for outdoor catering or food trucks, which Polar explicitly excludes, and for kitchens needing more than two GN wells a three- or four-door counter in the same range is the better base.

Installation & delivery
The CT393-A runs on a standard 230 V supply and arrives on castors, so it rolls into position without a licensed trade — leave clearance for condenser airflow and keep it indoors, as it is not rated for outdoor or mobile use. Polar specifies switching the unit off once a day so it defrosts correctly. We dispatch from our Sydney warehouse and partner sites Australia-wide. Warranty is 2 years parts and labour; see our warranty and service requests page.
Frequently asked questions
How many gastronorm pans does the CT393-A take?
The top is configured for 2 × 1/1 GN pans. GN containers are sold separately, so order the pan set to match your prep.
How much storage is in the base?
205 litres of usable internal capacity across two doors, with one adjustable shelf per door.
What temperature does it hold?
Minus 2 °C to 8 °C, managed by fan-assisted cooling with a digital control and display, and automatic defrost.
Is a sneeze guard included?
Yes. A full-size glass sneeze guard is fitted as standard, which makes the counter suitable for customer-facing prep and service.
Can I prep directly on the counter?
Yes. A removable PE chopping board is supplied, so you can cut and serve from the same station and lift the board out for washing.
Does it need to be switched off daily?
Yes. Polar specifies that the unit be switched off once per day so it can defrost properly. Build that into your close-down routine.
Can it be used outdoors or in a food truck?
No. Polar states this counter is not suitable for outdoor or mobile environments, including catering vehicles.
What warranty does it carry?
Two years parts and labour. See our warranty and service requests page for full terms.
